Ancient tree "Gushu" tea leaves from "ming feng shan da ye zhong" 鳴鳳山大叶种 (local large leaf variety) from trees over 300-600 years old (estimated only). A blend we made from two batches: early picking in late March-early April, and a later picking of more mature leaves with open buds in mid-April (similar raw material as this year's Sheng Pu'er). The trees grow on Yan An Shan 岩岸山 at an altitude of 1,850-2,130 meters, in Yongde area of the Lincang region of Yunnan province, China. One of the areas we are most familiar with and identified with in our fieldwork in Yunnan, which we visit almost every year.
An excellent batch of white tea, one of the best we have had in recent years from Yongde. Every year we choose one fresh batch and this time we put together a blend that managed to expand the range of the tea profile and give it a body that is usually lacking in early harvestd leaves. We delayed the launch of the tea to fine tune its aging. We continued to sample it for 20 months and it is simply wonderful. Floral aromatic profile (roses) with almost no grassiness or rawness. Medium & tight body, and a sweet and long finish.
Very high-quality raw material grown naturally of course, without spraying or fertilization, with almost no human intervention in the growing process. A small stock available for sale now is only part of the stock that continues to age in Xiamen warehouse under controlled conditions: 50-55% humidity and 23-27°c temperature, both stable throughout the year.
Suitable for all levels, intended for drinking all year round in the first part of the day. Especially recommended for white tea fans and ancient trees enthusiasts.
