A Thai black tea (red tea) with Chinese and Taiwanese roots, made from an oolong cultivar: all in one. Harvested in winter 2021 in the Doi Mae Salong area of northern Thailand, two leaves and a bud went through a relatively long withering and near-full oxidation of about 80%. The tea has a fruity profile, a honey-sweet finish, a medium body and notes of forest berries.

The tropical winter at 1,200 meters is considered a prime harvest season in northern Thailand, and it recalls the weather of late spring in Taiwan. The leaves are of the Ruan Zhi 軟技 "soft stem" cultivar, grown in natural, sustainable conditions without spraying (organic tea without certification). Ruan Zhi is a sub-variety of Taiwanese Qing Xin oolong, which famously originated in Anxi county in Fujian, China, where it is called Ai Jiao 矮腳 "short legs".

Another of northern Thailand's treasures, born of our close collaboration with creative growers of Taiwanese origin in Doi Mae Salong. This time we dug through several aging hybrid batches that had never been released, and chose to age one of them ourselves, vacuum-sealed in dry storage conditions. The result is an aged black tea, approachable and refined, at a price for every budget. It has kept its honey aroma while gaining more body and depth. One of our most successful teas from Thailand, featured in the seventh edition of our blind tasting club in early 2024.

A balanced tea with a warming tendency, suited to drinking all year round, at any hour of the day.
