A unique wulong red tea, from 100 years old ancient tea trees (bai nian lao cong 百年老樅) in the renowned town of Tongmu in Wuyi Shan, Fujian province, China. Traditionally made using the native Shui Xian 水仙 variety which grows wild in natural conditions, depending only on natural rainfall and without any pesticides, nor fertilizers (uncertified organic, tested privately).
This tea offers a particularly detailed profile; each brew changes, revealing another layer of this endless delight. A full bodied tea with a strong presence that reminds of a dense forest, with hints of moss, citrus, and cherry. The first infusion is aromatic and intense, setting the stage for the full experience this tea provides. In the next infusion, the roughness and citric notes soften, leaving us with woody and fruity flavors, and a prolonged, subtly sweet finish, similar to the sensations of citrusy liqueurs like Cointreau or Grand Marnier.
A rare collector's item that was a challenge to curate. Last autumn, we had the chance to work closely with two Lao Cong collectors from Wuyi Shan. Their main focus is searching for rare and high-graded versions of this sought-after tea. This tea represents a unique genre in Fujian province and ranks among the world's most expensive teas, with only limited batches of a few tens of kilograms produced each year. Even though we often sample such high-graded teas, it's rare for us to feel that the price truly reflects the tea's value. So, this is one of the few times we sell tea at this price, having acquired just half a kilo for our stock.
A unique tea profile, suitable for drinking all year round, at any time of day. Made by a renowned tea master honored by the goernment for his exceptional protection of the forest land he owns.
Please note that this product comes as a single-serving tea packet. The robust craft packet is designed for aging and is packaged in a festive, branded box, perfect for such a rare and luxurious tea variety.
A high-end, true collector's tea for experienced drinkers.
